Overview

In 2023, Ford created dealership certification requirements for dealers selling EVs. The goal was to standardize and better equip these dealerships, but the requirements were complex and far-ranging: from software updates, to electric grid upgrades approved by the county, to new, mandatory personnel training. As a result, dealers were confused and had to meet tight deadlines, while corporate had no clear visibility into how the process was going.

I came in to quickly design and launch a thin-slice MVP version that would intuitively present the requirements to dealers. Then, established long term UX strategy that steered the product roadmap toward features that shed light on dealership-corporate disconnect, resulting in a dramatic corporate pivot and dealer trust increase.

My Role

Lead product designer for end-to-end research and design work for both the MVP and follow up iterations. Drove stakeholder alignment for thin slice implementation, corporate dashboard, and dealer flagging feature, along with a 250+ person presentation at the Model e All-hands meeting and presentation directly to Model e COO.
